Our New and Improved Product Filters

Have you previously been having trouble finding the right filter options during your shopping sessions with us? Have you been paging through search results, especially on our mobile website, looking for a particular product? Our developers have been working hard on a solution to this problem of late in order to give you a modern and fuss-free shopping experience with us. It turned into quite a task to streamline our filters but we've done it - and our new product filters are now live and ready for you to use!
What Filters Are Available
We've focused on a set of product specifics that we believe will help you to filter your displayed products down to what you're really looking for. Rather than going through pages of products in a category, you can now filter your results based on:
- Ban Compliant: Whether or not they're banned in your state due to the disposable plastics ban roll outs
- Colour: Product colour
- Material: The material that the product is made from
- Shape: The shape of the product
- Type: The product type
- Price Range: Product price range
Where Do I Find The Product Filters
Mobile Site - Setting a Filter
On your phone and for most tablets, the filter bar is located at the top of the screen just under our logo. It's an accordian, which means that it will generally be rolled up unless you press on it. This saves screen real estate for the real task at hand - browsing products and prices (and of course, ordering). Simply press on the Filter bar and it will unfurl, showing the filters that are available based on the products on the screen. It will only show the filters that apply to the products on the screen to keep things nice and simple. Click on the name of the filter that interests you, for example Colour, and it will unfurl to show you what colours are available based on what's on your screen. Click on the colour, or colours that you want to see and your screen results will be filtered to only show products with those colours.
Mobile Site - Removing a Filter
Once a filter has been set, the Filter bar will roll up once again to show the filtered product results. If you want to remove the filter and once again see all products, simply press the Filter bar again. Any filters that have been set will show unfurled so that you can quickly de-select them. Alternatively, if you have for example, multiple colours selected in your filter, there will be an "X" on the right hand side of the Colour filter heading. Just press the "X" and all colour filters will be removed. This works the same way for any filter on our site.
Desktop Site - Setting a Filter
On the desktop site, the new product filters are displayed on the left side of any category page just underneath the category list. Remember that the filters won't be displayed on product pages as there will be nothing to filter for when you're browsing a specific product. Setting filters on the desktop site is otherwise exactly the same as described above for the mobile site. Nice and easy.
Desktop Site - Removing a Filter
Other than the location of the filters being on the left side of any category page on the desktop site, removing filters is the same as described for the mobile site above. It couldn't be easier!
Filtering Our Banned Products For Your State
Aside from the coding, this particular filter was a big part of the rollout and required a time consuming investigation into the current legislation for each state on a product by product basis. It was a big job, but was well worth the effort. We realised that there has been a lot of confusion over what is, and what isn't banned in each state. To start with, we added links on our site that addressed the plastic bans. However, we didn't stop there. We also added a filter so that you could filter out the products that aren't available in your state due to current legislation. This filter is a boon for fast product browsing. You can basically filter out all of the noise so that you only see what you can legally purchase in your state by using the Ban Compliant filter. Simply select your state, and you'll only see the products that are available in your state. It just takes a single click!
We hope that you enjoy making friends with our new improved filters. We're really happy with the results and couldn't wait to share the news with you all.
