BioPak plant-based cold lids have the same look and feel as traditional plastic takeaway lids. However BioPak PLA cold lids are made from Ingeo, a renewable plant-based plastic that is 100% derived from corn, not oil. PLA bioplastic requires 68% fewer fossil fuel resources to produce than traditional plastic.
Clear BioLids:
- Are made from plants, not oil
- Are compostable in a commercial compost facility in as little as 45 days
- Are available as universal fit dome and flat lids (300ml to 700ml) to reduce storage space requirements
- Are certified commercially compostable
Bioplastics are plastics derived from renewable sources, such as plant starch. Some, but not all, bioplastics are designed to biodegrade. The production and use of bioplastics is generally regarded as a more sustainable activity when compared with plastic production from petroleum, because it relies less on fossil fuel as a carbon source and also introduces fewer, net-new greenhouse emissions if it biodegrades. They significantly reduce hazardous waste caused by oil-derived plastics, which remain solid for hundreds of years.
